T'GALLANT WINERY On a cold wet Sunday we started with a big hello from Ben at the elegant cellar door crammed with unique specialty foods, then into Spuntino Bar, an old farm shed with cheap rustic furniture, shared tables, blackboard menus, live music and a big raucous crowd - piping hot wood-fired pizzas on wooden rectangular trays cut into little squares, chipolatas and generous antipasto with plenty of variety, hot salami and Wolf Blass Gabbiano Italian imported Chianti and coffee in disposable cups. But where was Pierre-André? Last reviewed Sunday June 6 2010 |

MORNING STAR ESTATE An iconic five-star Peninsula showpiece with sensational bay views, acres of sweeping lawns, 300 varieties of roses and 30 acres of vineyards. We visited on a cold day and enjoyed the crowded outdoor deck with marquee blinds and effective heaters. I had superb filet steak with baby turnips and a special cous-cous and Jones Road pinot gris. Lunch Sat-Sun 3-courses $60, 2 $50, Wed-Fri 2 with a glass of wine $35. Mine host Craig Regan took time to sit with us – a great day! Last reviewed Sunday May 31 2010 |

TUCKS RIDGE We had a table in the sunny paved courtyard overlooking a magic bush valley with a brook, lake and autumn vines. The service was friendly and attentive, the food inventive and well presented. The four of us started sharing a mixed plate – a generous serve of prosciutto, olives with anchovies and pomegranate dressing and a cob loaf. After mains we had delectable home-made doughnuts and ice-cream, espresso and biscotti. Excellent pinot noir, reasonably priced. Last reviewed Sunday 23 May 2010 |

FOXEYS HANGOUT A small family run destination with fresh, modern decor, the staff friendly and attentive, the tapas style food distinctive and the pinos gris and soft, cool-climate shiraz excellent - top class bread, local olives and coffee served with biscotti . It was a sunny day and the full wall window looked over autumn vines and pine trees. The place always seemed full but the open plan setup allowed staff to make room for new guests. Open for lunch Saturdays and Sundays. Last reviewed Saturday May 15 2010 |
